Yala Peak Climb


Itinerary

Day 01 - Arrival in Kathmandu [1,350m/4,430ft]

Arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, Nepal. Upon completing the visa formalities and collecting your luggages in the airport, kindly proceed to the exit of the arrival hall. Your trip leader will await you just outside the arrival hall and will escort you to your hotel in Kathmandu. Please look out for a placard of Highland Expeditions at the exit of arrival hall. Welcome drinks will be served and after you’ve refreshed, your trek leader will brief you about your trip in the lobby of your hotel in the evening. Get familiar with your surroundings by taking a walk down the street.

Day 02 - Trek and Climb Preperation

After your first night in Kathmandu, you will be well informed on arrival about the time for gear preparation. In the evening, you will be briefed by your trek and climb leader about your trekking program the next day. In case you have fallen short of any trek and climb equipment that you may need, this time can be used to arrange for it.

Day 03 - Drive to Syabrubesi [1,460m/4,791ft]

From Kathmandu, we take a 9 - hour scenic drive to Syabru Besi, a little trading town for the Langtang area. After driving for 30 km, we approach pristine villages on the banks of the river Trishuli. We also get to view the enthralling panorama of the Himalaya, including the Annapurnas, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal and peaks of the Langtang region. Overnight at your lodge

Day 04 - Trek to Lama Hotel [2,470m/8,104ft]

The first part of the trail crosses through the Bhote Koshi and follows the Langtang Khola. This trail is a gradual ascent up to Bamboo passing through landslide zones. Afterwards, we trek down gently to Rimche (2400m.) through Bamboo (1960m.) which lies at the banka of Langtang Khola. En-route we can see red pandas, playful monkeys and bears if you are lucky.

Day 05 - Trek to Langtang Village [3,430m/11,254ft]

After breakfast, we continue climbing amidst occasional glimpses of Langtang Lirung between the trees. At Ghore Tabela [3000m], the trail emerges from the forest. While walking hereabouts, we get to observe playful white monkeys enjoying themselves and hear the sweet chirping of merry local birds. The trail continues to climb gently and the valley widens, passing a few temporary settlements used by herders who bring their livestock to graze in the high pastures during the summer months. There is a monastery we can visit shortly before arriving at the village of Langtang, the headquarters of the Langtang National Park. The houses of Langtang and its neighbouring villages are of the flat-roofed Tibetan style, surrounded by stone walls enclosing fields of buckwheat, potatoes, wheat, turnips and barley.

Day 06 - Trek to Kyanjin Gompa [3,850m/12,632ft]

The trail skirts gradually through rich yak pastures and interesting customary villages of Muna to Singdun. We cross a wooden cantilever bridge and reach a wide valley after climbing a moraine. Finally, on ascending the mountain passes, we arrive at Kyagjing Gompa. There is a small monastery and a government-operated cheese factory hereabouts. We can sample some of the fresh cheese down here. Overnight at our lodge

Day 07 - Rest and Acclimatization Day

We get to explore interesting places like the monastery, cheese factory etc. We can climb Kyangjin Ri located at 4,773m/15,656ft from where great views of snow-capped mountains are spread out in wonderful display right next to you. We can walk up the moraine to see the spectacular mountain ridges and undulating glaciers. Overnight at our lodge

Day 08 - Trek to Yala Peak Base Camp [5,033m,16,512ft]

Today we trek to Yala Base Camp (5033 m), which is about six hours away from Kyanjin Gompa. You walk through the beautiful pastures and then climb a rocky trail to reach Yala Base Camp. Besides, the view of Langtang Lirung peak, you can relish the stunning views of mountains like Yala Peak, Ganchempo, Naya Kanga, Tserko RI, and many others. Overnight in base camp. 

Day 09 - Climbing course and route assesment [5,033m,16,512ft]

You will receive a pre-climb training from our climbing guide on this day. You will get instructions on peak climbing techniques. You will also be taught how to use the climbing gears like ice axe, crampons, harness and ascender properly. You will learn how to use ropes while you move up and down.

Day 10 - Summit Yala peak [5,550m/18,209ft] and back to Kyanjin Gompa

Today is the most exciting as well as challenging day for you. Early in the morning, you will start your summit to the Yala peak. The moment you reach the top, you will feel a sense of pride and great achievement. From the top, you can enjoy the unparalleled view of Dorje Lakpa, Naya Kang, Langtang Lirung, and many other snow-clad peaks in the mountain range. After your successful summit, you will trace your steps back to Kyanjin Gompa.  

Day 11 - Trek to Lama Hotel [2,470m/8,104ft]

From Kyanjin, we take revert back to Lama Hotel. As we retrace our steps, we follow the Langtang Khola to Langtang village and on to Ghora Tabela. We haul up briefly for lunch and thereafter continue the steep descent to Lama Hotel to bunk out for the night

Day 12 - Trek to Syabrubesi [1,460m/4,791ft]

Today is the last day of the trek. You will walk through the terraced field and green hills to reach Syabrubensi. En route, enjoy the rewarding views of the mighty mountains, Langtang Himal and Ganesh Himal. Walking through the uphill forest of oak and hemlock, you will then gradually decline towards the rhododendron forest and pastures to reach the ridge at Phoprang Danda. Gently climbing the uphill, you will pass through a few Buddhist monasteries and reach Syabrubensi village.

Day 13 - Drive back to Kathmandu [1,350m/4,430ft]

It’s a seven hours easy-going cruise through a scenic highway and typical countryside on our way back to Kathmandu. We check into our hotel and the rest of the day is free to chill out and reflect on a wonderful trip. Overnight at our hotel

Day 14 - International Departure
