Trip Overview
Highlights
Located in south-central Nepal, Chitwan National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage site spanning 932 square kilometers. It is reachable by a scenic 5-hour drive or a short 25-minute flight from Kathmandu.
Known as the heart of Nepal’s lowland jungles, Chitwan is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including one-horned rhinos, leopards, wild boars, langurs, rhesus monkeys, and over 400 species of birds, as well as diverse reptiles and amphibians. A Chitwan Jungle Safari here provides an exceptional opportunity to experience this rich biodiversity up close.
Your stay is at the highly rated Barahi Jungle Lodge, where you will be accommodated in a Deluxe Boutique Hut that combines comfort with authentic jungle surroundings. The package includes three meals daily—breakfast, lunch, and dinner—featuring local flavors served at the Banyan Café or poolside.
Over your two-night stay, a range of wildlife activities is arranged to offer a complete experience. On arrival, enjoy an afternoon boat safari along the Rapti River, followed by a unique sundowner at the river’s confluence, creating a peaceful setting to watch wildlife and stunning sunsets. Evenings include vibrant Tharu or Kumal cultural dance performances by local villagers.
Your second day begins with an early jeep safari lasting 3 to 4 hours, crossing the Rapti River by boat and exploring different park routes selected by expert naturalists based on animal activity. Breakfast is served during the safari at a scenic spot. After some leisure time, you can choose between an escorted walking safari through the park or a village walk to learn about the culture and daily life of the Tharu people. The day concludes with another cultural dance performance and dinner.
A visit to the nearby Elephant Breeding Center is included, giving you the chance to feed and learn about these majestic animals. Staying at Barahi Jungle Lodge means waking up to the gentle sounds of the jungle and immersing yourself in nature.
Chitwan’s warm, humid climate and lush greenery offer a refreshing contrast to Kathmandu’s environment. Whether you explore the park by jeep, on foot, by boat, or on elephant back, a Chitwan Jungle Safari promises a memorable connection with Nepal’s wild side.
