We are making significant changes to our trip operations and booking conditions to account for a situation that is too far from normal.

YOU CAN TRUST US
Highland Expeditions is a fully licensed and bonded adventure company based in Kathmandu, Nepal. This means your money is 100% protected. If in case you are not able to join the trip or we are forced to suspend the trip due to safety issues, we will provide you with 100% credit of your deposit to be used on the future departure dates. There will not be any charges for rescheduling the trip.
ACCOMMODATION
A single room will be provided in Kathmandu for every participant from fixed departure groups. In the mountains due to limited rooms, we may not be able to provide a single room but we provide our own bedsheet and pillowcases. A double room in Kathmandu will be provided for couples or people who have travelled to Nepal together. We may change your accommodation in Kathmandu or on the mountain if needed due to safety reasons.
TRANSPORTATION
Only the use of private transportation will be allowed on our trips. Each vehicle will be routinely sanitized before every use. We will also ensure more spacing on the seating arrangements to maintain social distancing while transporting. We strictly do not recommend using public transportation during your time in Kathmandu to minimise the risk of virus.
GEARS AND KIT
All trekking and climbing gears we provide to our clients for use will be thoroughly washed and cleaned before every use. We provide the use of the sleeping bag, down jacket and duffel bag on all our trekking trips and we provide climbing gears at request on all our peak climbing trips. Although our gears and kit are cleaned and washed, we encourage you to bring your own gear if possible.
GUIDES
After your arrival in Kathmandu and during your trip, your guide will provide you with a daily briefing on COVID-19 stats, prevention, measures and other related aspects according to the place. With their local knowledge and our 24/7 support from Kathmandu, we work to ensure that you have a wonderful holiday in our part of the world
UPDATED FIRST AID KIT
On each trip, we provide a comprehensive first aid kit with bottled oxygen for emergency purpose. We also carry a satellite phone on all our remote trips where there are no other means of communication available. Each guide will carry a first aid kit containing thermometer, extra masks, disposable gloves soap and/or sanitizers. We also encourage you to bring your own first aid kit with enough masks and sanitizers.
DURING THE TRIP
All our trip itineraries will be assessed before and we ensure to mitigate the risk as much as possible. If due to any safety reason, we feel like amending the itinerary, we will do so and advise you accordingly. There will be daily communication with the office to report and get updates on the overall situation. Your guide will keep a daily log according in a pre-established format to record itinerary and points of contact to facilitate contact tracing should the need arise.

Nepal government has allowed tourism activities to commence since autumn 2020. The arrival protocols and guidelines were constantly being monitored, adapt and changed as per the situation. As of March 27, 2021, the government has put forward new arrival guidelines for all arriving tourists for the purpose of trekking and mountaineering under which tourists visiting Nepal are not required to stay in 7 days quarantine. With these new guidelines, travellers can visit Nepal at ease and as the vaccination has started across Nepal, we look forward to being back in the mountains safely very soon.
